What would become the Middle Tennessee Pullers Association began in the late 1990's when the Warren County Antique Tractor Association added a 10,000 lb. hot farm diesel class along with their already existing small and big block hot rod classes. The classes quickly grew and it was decided a larger and heavier sled was needed to stop the faster tractors. The club soon purchased the Heartbreaker 2 sled from the Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association. It was renamed to Big Clyde (pictured above, click for sled history) and was used for the next several years. A four wheel drive truck and 9300 lb. super farm class were soon added and also grew quickly.

At the end of the 2002 pulling season the pullers of the hot rods, trucks, and diesel tractors decided to start a separate club, and on December 1st, 2002, the Middle Tennessee Pullers Association (MTPA) was founded. The MTPA began putting on several pulls across Tennessee in April of 2003 using Big Clyde. As more classes were added and the trucks and tractors continued to get stronger it was decided that a harder stopping and more reliable sled was needed for the pulls. The club now primarily uses the Predator sled (pictured above) owned by Jack Reed of Crossville, TN.

The MTPA continues to put on pulls throughout Tennessee. Be sure to check the schedule for a pull in your area. Anyone who is interested in booking a pull can click on the Information section for more info.
